This article is devoted to the issue of the influence of military service on the cultural identity and self-awareness of soldiers in the auxiliary troops of the Roman army recruited from the non-Roman population. In this passage, the author considers the ethnic diversity of servicemen of the auxiliary troops and the ways of their replacement by recruits. He refers to written and epigraphic sources. This passage is devoted, for the most part, to social relations. The author discusses the psychological consequences of recruitment for new recruits, in connection with the influence of this factor on cultural processes. He uses the term "Romanization", while noting his controversial position. In general, the author fully describes the question under study.
