Opened in 2009 as an archaeological school-site of the West University of Timişoara, the archaeological site at Unip-Dealu Cetăţuica led, during the seven research campaigns (2009–2015), to the discovery of numerous archaeological finds dating back to various historical ages. The seven investigated areas (S.1–S.7) cover a surface of 340 m2 altogether, located in two different parts of the “hill”, within whose limits 108 archaeological complexes were found (Pl. 113, 114). To date, results have shown that the “hill” was inhabited in three different ages, starting with the First Iron Age (5th–6th centuries B.C.), then the Second Iron Age, the phase of the Dacian Kingdom (2nd century B.C – 1st century A.D.), and finally the migration age (7th century A.D.).
