The Giant Encyclopedia of Circle Time and Group Activities for Children 3 to 6: Over 600 Favorite Circle Time Activities Created by Teachers for Teachers.
Every day wonderful, dedicated people use their talents and energies to teach young children. To help these teachers share their work with others we conducted a national contest asking teachers to send in their best circle time or group activities. Entries poured in from Seattle to Miami and from San Diego to Bangor. We selected the very best entries to create this book of over 600 circle time or group activities to use with children 3 to 6 years old. This book answers the question, “What shall | do at circle time (or group time) today?”. It is packed with days, weeks and months of activities and ideas that teachers around the country have used successfully with the children they teach. We trust that you will benefit from the years of experience reflected in this book.
Keep in mind the following suggestions when involving children in circle time and group activities:
Encourage the children’s participation in circle time or group activities, both during the activities and when preparing for them.
Use familiar words or phrases to get the children’s attention. Then always use these words or phrases in the same way.
Hold circle time in the same place each day (except for special events). Set up chairs or a rug to mark the space.
While encouraging all children to join the group, offer another choice to children who find it hard to be with the group.
The Giant Encyclopedia of Circle Time and Group Activities for Children 3 to 6 book was created by experienced teachers who contributed their original ideas. publishing this book would not have been possible without the careful, expert mind and eye of Mary Duru and the ever-present genius of Sarabeth Goodwin.
