In the 1990s, we served together in Germany and Canada as squadron leaders, and in the mid-2000s, we were reunited, this time as commanding officer and second-in-command of 2nd Royal Tank Regiment. Most recently, and when not working on the staff in the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant Colonel Macro has demonstrated his talent as a natural story teller and student of our regiment’s history and that of its forebears, which include the Heavy Branch, Machine Gun Corps.
