Тео́рия за́говора (от англ. conspiracy theory), конспироло́гия (от англ. conspiracy «заговор» + др.-греч. λόγος) — объяснение реального или вымышленного события как произошедшего в результате заговора могущественных групп, действующих злонамеренно и, как правило, политически мотивированных, в ситуации, когда другие объяснения более вероятны; вера, что тайная, но влиятельная организация (как правило, политическая по мотивации и репрессивная по методам) несёт ответственность за необъяснимое событие. Термин имеет отрицательную коннотацию, подразумевая, что апелляция к заговору основана на предрассудках или слабых доказательствах. Теория заговора не является просто одним из возможных объяснений среди других равноценных альтернатив, но представляет собой идею, которая противоречит более правдоподобной и широко принятой версии.
